Harvest festival in Mevarkal LPS

Have you been to Mevarkal LPS lately? The school now has a nice little vegetable garden surrounding it. You can find eight varieties of vegetables: Beans (Payar), Bitter Gourd (paaval), Ladies finger (Venda), Cauliflower, Spinach (Cheera), Yam (Chena), Cabbage (Muttakkose), and Bottle Gourd (Churrakka).The vegetable garden has created a lovely green ring around the school.

 

The garden is the result of school's collaboration with the local Krishi Bhavan. The agricultural department offered the initial finance to buy seeds and fertilizers. Some local farmers too offered their advice and active help. Mr. Premachandran, a teacher in the school, organized the activities, especially the timely watering of plants.

Students have participated wholeheartedly. They helped the teachers and farmers in watering the plants and cleaning up the buds.They also recorded details of various stages of the plants' growth in their diaries. See a sample diary here.

 

 

The result is an impressive garden. A couple of days ago Karavaram panchayath president Sri. K. Subhash came down to the school and lauded the people behind the project. He also officially inaugurated the harvest of the vegetable garden in Mevarkal LPS.

 

The school Headmistress, Smt. K. Kamala, who is due to retire after this academic year, said that the proceeds of the harvest will be used for preparing students' daily lunch. She added that by the current market value of vegetables, the proceeds will be worth thousands of Rupees.

At a time when the vegetable cultivation is getting disappeared from the village, Mevarkal LPS well and truly has shown the way for attaining food self-sufficiency.

ഡിസംബര്‍ 3-6 തീയതികളില്‍ കിളിമാനൂര്‍ ആര്‍ ആര്‍ വി സ്കൂളില്‍ നടന്ന കിളിമാനൂര്‍ ഉപജില്ല സ്കൂള്‍ കലോത്സവത്തില്‍ മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ എല്‍ പി എസിലെ കുട്ടികള്‍ മെച്ചപ്പെട്ട പ്രകടനം കാഴ്ച്ച വച്ചു.

എല്‍ പി വിഭാഗം കടം കഥ മത്സരത്തില്‍ രണ്ടാം ക്ലാസിലെ നീലാഞ്ജന എന്‍. ഡി. എ ഗ്രേഡോടു കൂടി രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനം നേടി. കഥാകഥനത്തിലും നീലാഞ്ജയ്ക്ക് എ ഗ്രേഡ് ലഭിച്ചു. നാലാം ക്ലാസിലെ ദീപ്തി ദിനേഷിന് മലയാളം പ്രസംഗ മത്സരത്തില്‍ എ ഗ്രേഡ് കിട്ടി.

ഒപ്പം നടന്ന അറബിക് കലോത്സവത്തില്‍ നാലാം ക്ലാസിലെ നൌഫിയ എന്‍.  എ ഗ്രേഡ് നേടി. ഖുര്‍ആന്‍ പാരായണത്തില്‍ നാലാം ക്ലാസിലെ ദിയ എ. എസ്. എ ഗ്രേഡ് വാങ്ങി. മൊത്തം സ്കൂളിനു 25 പോയിന്റ്‌ ലഭിച്ചു.

കലോത്സവത്തില്‍ മുന്‍പേ നടന്ന യുറീക്ക വിജ്ഞാനോത്സവത്തില്‍ നാലാം ക്ലാസിലെ രാജലക്ഷ്മി ആര്‍. മികച്ച കുട്ടിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

സമ്മാനങ്ങള്‍ നേടിയവര്‍ക്കും മത്സരങ്ങളില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തവര്‍ക്കും ഞങ്ങളുടെ അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങള്‍.

ഇന്നലെ കിളിമാനൂരില്‍ നടന്ന ഉപജില്ല സ്കൂള്‍ കായിക മേളയില്‍ മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ എല്‍ പി എസിലെ കുട്ടികള്‍ രണ്ടു മെഡലുകള്‍ നേടി. എല്‍ പി കിഡീസ് ഗേള്‍സ്  വിഭാഗത്തിലെ 4 x 100 മീറ്റര്‍ റിലേയില്‍ (LP Kiddies Girls 4 x 100 m relay) നമ്മുടെ കുട്ടികള്‍ ഒന്നാം സ്ഥാനം നേടി.

വ്യക്തിഗത ഇനത്തില്‍ എല്‍ പി കിഡീസ് ഗേള്‍സ്  വിഭാഗം 100 മീറ്റര്‍ ഓട്ടത്തില്‍ രണ്ടാം ക്ലാസിലെ എ. അജിമിത രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനം നേടി. കായിക മേളയില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത എല്ലാ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്കും സ്കൂളിന്റെ ഹാര്‍ദവമായ അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങള്‍.

സ്കൂള്‍ വാന്‍ യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യമാകുന്നു: ഉദ്ഘാടനം ഒക്ടോബര്‍ 2-ന്

മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ സ്കൂളിലേക്ക് ഒരു വാന്‍ വാങ്ങുക എന ഒരു സ്വപ്നം യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യമാകുന്നു. ഒക്ടോബര്‍ 2, ഈ ഗാന്ധി ജയന്തി ദിനത്തില്‍ ആറ്റിങ്ങല്‍ എം എല്‍ എ ശ്രീ ബി. സത്യന്‍ സ്കൂള്‍ വാന്‍ ഫ്ളാഗ് ഓഫ്‌ ചെയ്യുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം  എം എല്‍ എ ഫണ്ടില്‍ നിന്ന് 5.5 ലക്ഷം വാന്‍ വാങ്ങുന്നതിന് വേണ്ടി നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു.

ഇതിന് വേണ്ടി അക്ഷീണം പ്രയത്നിച്ച ഇതിന്റെ ഭാരവാഹികള്‍ക്ക് ഒപ്പം ഇവിടത്തെ പൂര്‍വ്വവിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളും ഇതുമായി സഹകരിച്ച നാട്ടുകാരുമൊക്കെ അകമഴിഞ്ഞ അഭിനന്ദനം അര്‍ഹിക്കുന്നു. നാട്ടുകാരുടെ പിന്തുണ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ ഇതൊരിക്കലും സാധ്യമാകുമായിരുന്നില്ല.113 കൊല്ലം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഈ സ്കൂള്‍ ഇനിയും നിരവധി കൊല്ലം കുരുന്നുകള്‍ക്ക് അക്ഷരം പഠിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള വേദിയാകുന്നതിനു ഈ വാന്‍ ഉപകരിക്കുമെന്ന് പ്രത്യാശിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്, എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഒരിക്കല്‍ കൂടി നന്ദി പറയുന്നു.
 

Mevarkal LPS students spend time with an old woman staying alone

In an extra-ordinary show of humanity and social concern, students of Mevarkal LPS invited an old woman staying alone in her house to spend a day with them at the school. She came to the school, and the students showered her with an assortment of gifts. Facing their heart-felt affection and love, she struggled to hold back tears.

The lady is a native of Karavaram Panchayath (name and photos are withheld to protect her privacy). She is living alone in an old and decayed hut. She has practically no one there to look after her, even though there are some close relatives staying nearby. The students of the fifth standard learned about her from one of their classmates. They planned a visit to her house, but later decided to invite her to the school so that all the students can take part in the activity.

Teachers spoke on the occasion about the need to show special care and concern to old people staying alone.The students are planning to invite the lady for their Onam celebrations.

In this age, where even the rich and highly educated people abandoning the older members of the family, albeit in architect-designed houses, this experience will be a great lesson to the Mevarkal LPS students. It will be worth more than anything they learn from textbooks.

ഇന്ത്യയുടെ 67-മത് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ദിനം മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ സ്കൂളില്‍  സമുചിതമായി ആചരിച്ചു. സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ദിനത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെ പറ്റിയും ചരിത്രത്തെ പറ്റിയും അദ്ധ്യാപകര്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്ക് പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്തു. ഓരോ ക്ലാസ്സിലെയും വിദ്യാര്‍ഥി പ്രതിനിധികള്‍  സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ ദിന ആശംസകള്‍ നേര്‍ന്നു. ചടങ്ങിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ ചുവടെ ചേര്‍ക്കുന്നു.

മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ സ്കൂളിലെ  പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബ്‌ കഴിഞ്ഞ തിങ്കളാഴ്ച കരവാരം പഞ്ചായത്ത്‌ പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ശ്രീ. കെ. സുഭാഷ് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. വയലുകളും തോടുകളും നികത്തുന്ന റിയല്‍ എസ്റ്റേറ്റ്‌ മാഫിയയും ഭൂഗര്‍ഭ ജലം പോലും ഊറ്റിയെടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ള കമ്പനികളും ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില്‍ പോലും പ്രകൃതിയെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തില്‍ പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബ്‌ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത് വഴി കുട്ടികള്‍ മുതിര്‍ന്നവര്‍ക്ക് മാതൃക ആകുകയാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

ചടങ്ങിനു മുന്പായി സ്കൂള്‍ മുറ്റത്തെ, കുട്ടികളുടെ വൃക്ഷ മുത്തശ്ശിയായ, നൂറു കൊല്ലത്തില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ പഴക്കമുള്ള പ്ലാവിനെ ആദരിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. മരങ്ങളെയും പ്രകൃതിയെയും സംരക്ഷിക്കുവാന്‍ വേണ്ടി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുമെന്ന്  പ്ലാവിനെചുറ്റും കൂടി നിന്ന്  വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ പ്രതിജ്ഞ എടുത്തു.

 

തുടര്‍ച്ചയായി ഏഴാം കൊല്ലവും ശുചിത്വത്തിനുള്ള കേരള സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ പുരസ്കാരം വാങ്ങിയ ആറ്റിങ്ങല്‍ നഗരസഭയുടെ ചെയര്‍പേഴ്സന്‍ ശ്രീമതി എസ്. കുമാരിയെ ചടങ്ങില്‍ വച്ച് ആദരിച്ചു. പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബ്‌ തുടങ്ങിയതിന് കുട്ടികളെയും അദ്ധ്യാപകരെയും അഭിനന്ദിച്ച ശ്രീമതി എസ്. കുമാരി, നഗരസഭയ്ക്ക് ലഭിച്ച പുരസ്കാരം ആറ്റിങ്ങലിലെ ജനങ്ങളുടെയും നഗരസഭാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുടെയും കുടുംബശ്രീ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരുടെയും ജനപ്രതിനിധികളുടെയും കൂട്ടായ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിന്റെ അംഗീകാരമാണെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു. നിശ്ചയദാര്‍ഡ്യത്തോടെ, ആത്മവിശ്വാസത്തോടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചാല്‍ എന്തും സാധ്യമാകും എന്ന ഉപദേശം കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കിയാണ്‌ നഗരസഭ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷ പ്രസംഗം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചത്.

 

ഉദ്ഘാടനത്തിനു മുന്‍പ് പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബിന്റെ ചുമതല ഉള്ള ഷെമീന ടീച്ചര്‍ പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബ് തുടങ്ങാനുള്ള സാഹചര്യവും കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒന്ന് രണ്ട് കൊല്ലമായി സ്കൂളിലെ കുട്ടികള്‍ നടത്തി വരുന്ന പരിസ്ഥിതിപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ച് സവിസ്തരം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. പ്രശസ്ത കവയിത്രി സുഗത കുമാരി ടീച്ചറെ കാണാന്‍ പോയതായിരുന്നു അതില്‍ പ്രധാനം. ടീച്ചറെ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചതിനു ശേഷം സ്കൂളിനു സമീപത്തെ ഒരു കുളം വൃത്തിയാക്കണമെന്നുആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട്  കരവാരം പഞ്ചായത്ത്‌ പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ നിവേദനം നല്‍കിയ കാര്യം ടീച്ചര്‍ അനുസ്മരിച്ചു. പരിസ്ഥിതി ക്ലബിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടന ചടങ്ങില്‍ വിശിഷ്ടാതിഥികള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത കുട്ടികള്‍ക്കും വേദി പങ്കിടാന്‍ അവസരം നല്‍കിയതാണ്  ചടങ്ങിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയായി  ടീച്ചര്‍ എടുത്തു പറഞ്ഞത്.

 

ചടങ്ങില്‍ വച്ച്  പരിസ്ഥിതിസംരക്ഷണം വിഷയമാക്കി കുട്ടികള്‍ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ കയ്യെഴുത്ത് മാസിക ശ്രീമതി എസ്. കുമാരി പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്തു. വാര്‍ഡ്‌ മെമ്പര്‍ ശ്രീമതി എം ഷീല കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് പച്ചക്കറി വിത്ത് വിതരണം ചെയ്തു.

കരവാരം പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ ആരോഗ്യ സ്റ്റാന്‍ഡിംഗ് കമ്മിറ്റി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ ശ്രീ പി ആര്‍ രാജീവ്‌, വാര്‍ഡ്‌ മെമ്പര്‍ മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ നാസര്‍, ബി ആര്‍ സി ട്രെയിനര്‍ റാണി ടീച്ചര്‍, എസ് എം സി അംഗം ശ്രീ സി വി നാരായണന്‍ നായര്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവര്‍ ചടങ്ങില്‍ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു. അയ്യപ്പ പണിക്കരുടെ കാടെവിടെ മക്കളെ എന്ന കവിത ഈണത്തില്‍ ചൊല്ലി  റാണി ടീച്ചര്‍ യോഗത്തിന് കാവ്യഭംഗി നല്‍കിയപ്പോള്‍,  സി വി നാരായണന്‍ നായര്‍ പരിസ്ഥിതിയെ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് മനസിലാകുന്ന രീതിയില്‍ ലളിതമായി നിര്‍വചിച്ചു.

ചടങ്ങിനുഏറ്റവുമധികം ശോഭ നല്‍കിയത് കുട്ടികളുടെ പ്രസംഗങ്ങളും, കവിതാലാപനവും  ചെറു കുറിപ്പുകളുടെ അവതരണവും ആയിരുന്നു.

Eco-club inauguration @ Mevarkal LPS - Invitation

The first-ever eco-club in Mevarkal LPS will be inaugurated on July 29, 2013 (this Monday). Sri. K. Subhash, president of Karavaram grama panchayath, will inaugurate the club, which is expected to enhance the students' and people's awareness of environmental issues.

As part of the inauguration of the club, two special events have been planned. The first is to honor Smt.  S. Kumari, chairperson of Attingal municipality, which has bagged the cleanliness award of Kerala government for the seventh consecutive year. The second is to honor the grand old jack-fruit tree at the school compound.

Old-time students will have sweet memories of the tree, as it not only offered shade for the kids who played around but provided leaves as well, which students used to use as a spoon while having lunch (especially for drinking kanjhi). The tree is said to be older than 100 years.

മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തില്‍ മാതൃത്വത്തിന്‍റെ കവയിത്രി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ബാലാമണി അമ്മയുടെ (1909 ജൂലൈ 19-2004 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 29) നൂറ്റി നാലാം ജന്മ വാര്‍ഷികം കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം കടന്നു പോയി. അക്ഷര കേരള തറവാടിലെ മുഴുവന്‍ അംഗങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ എല്‍ പി എസിലെ കുട്ടികളും ആ അമ്മയുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മയ്ക് മുന്‍പില്‍ പ്രണാമം അര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നു.

ലോക ജനസംഖ്യാ ദിനം @ മേവര്‍ക്കല്‍ എല്‍ പി എസ്

ജൂലൈ 11 ആണ് ലോക ജനസംഖ്യാ ദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നത്. ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്ര സഭയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ 1989 മുതല് ഇത് ആചരിച്ചു വരുന്നു. ജനസംഖ്യയ്ക്കും ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ദിവസം ആചരിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യമുണ്ടോ എന്ന് നിങ്ങളില്‍ പലര്‍ക്കും സംശയമുണ്ടാകാം. കാര്യം ഉണ്ട്. കാരണം അധികമായാല്‍ അമൃതും വിഷമാണ്. ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ കാര്യവും അതുപോലെയാണ്. ജനസംഖ്യ വര്‍ദ്ധനവിന്‍റെ ഗുണ-ദോഷങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റി ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ അറിവ്  നല്‍കുന്നതിന്  വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഈ ദിനം ആചരിക്കുന്നത്.

ജനസംഖ്യ എന്നത് കൊണ്ട് ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത് ഭൂമിയിലെ മനുഷ്യരുടെ എണ്ണമാണ്. 2011-ലെ സെന്‍സസ് പ്രകാരം അത് 700 കോടി കവിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഒരോ മണിക്കൂറിലും 9000 കുട്ടികള്‍‍ ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് പിറന്ന് വീഴുന്നു എന്നാണ് കണക്ക്. അതായത് ഒരു മിനിറ്റില്‍ 150 കുട്ടികള്‍. ഒരു പക്ഷേ, പ്രകൃതിയിലെ മറ്റൊരു ജീവിയും ഈ തോതില്‍ അനസ്യൂതം വംശ വര്‍ദ്ധന നടത്തുന്നുണ്ടാകില്ല.

ഈ 700 കോടിയില് ഏകദേശം 121 കോടിയലധികം ഇന്ത്യക്കാരാണ്. ചൈന മാത്രമേ ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ നമുക്ക് മുന്നിലുള്ളൂ. ഇന്ത്യാക്കാരേക്കാളും 10 കോടിയിലധികം ചൈനാക്കാര്‍ ലോകത്തുണ്ട്. മൊത്തത്തിലെടുത്താല്‍ ലോക ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ 35 ശതമാനത്തിലധികം ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരും ചൈനക്കാരുമാണ്. 1950-ല്‍, അതായത് ഇന്ത്യ റിപ്പബ്ലിക് ആയപ്പോള്‍, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ജനസംഖ്യ 36 കോടിയായിരുന്നു. വെറും 60 കൊല്ലം കൊണ്ട് ആണ് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ജനസംഖ്യ ഏതാണ്ട് മൂന്നര ഇരട്ടിയായി വര്‍ദ്ധിച്ചത്. 

ജനസംഖ്യ വര്ദ്ധിക്കുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് ഗുണങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്, ദോഷങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്. ഗുണങ്ങളെന്തൊക്കെയാണ്? അധ്വാനിക്കാന്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ പേരുണ്ടാകുന്നു, കൂടുതല്‍ കൂടുതല് ആശയങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു, പൊതുവായുള്ള വിഭവശേഷി വര്ദ്ധിക്കുന്നു. ദോഷങ്ങളോ? മനുഷ്യരുടെ എണ്ണം കൂടുന്നതനുസരിച്ച് ഭൂമിയിലെ സ്ഥലം  കൂടുന്നില്ല. പ്രകൃതി വിഭവങ്ങളുടെ അളവ് കൂടുന്നില്ല. മറിച്ച് മലിനീകരണവും പരിസ്ഥിതി നാശവും കൂടുന്നു.  ഇവ സൂക്ഷ്മമായി പരിശോധിച്ചാല്‍ ഗുണങ്ങള് മിക്കതും താത്കാലികവും ദോഷങ്ങള്‍ ദീര്ഘ കാലം നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നതും തിരിച്ചു മാറ്റാന്‍ പറ്റാത്തതുമാണെന്ന് മനസിലാകും.

ജനിക്കുന്ന ഓരോ കുട്ടിയും ഒരു പോലെ സ്നേഹിക്കപ്പെടാനും അവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരേ പോലുളള സൗകര്യങ്ങളും പ്രകൃതി വിഭവങ്ങളും ലഭിക്കുവാനും ജനസംഖ്യ നിയന്ത്രിക്കേണ്ടത് അടിയന്തിരമായ ആവശ്യമാണ്.

വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ് ബഷീറിന്റെ പേരിലിറക്കിയ സ്റ്റാംപ്

മലയാള സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ സുല്‍ത്താനായിരുന്ന വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ് ബഷീറിന്റെ പത്തൊന്‍പതാം ചരമവാര്‍ഷികം ആണ് ഇന്ന്. 1908 ജനുവരി 21-ന് ജനിച്ച അദ്ദേഹം 1994 ജൂലൈ 5-നാണ് നമ്മെ വിട്ടു പിരിഞ്ഞത്. ഒന്നും ഒന്നും വലിയ ഒന്നാണെന്നും ഭൂമിയുടെ അവകാശികള്‍ മനുഷ്യര്‍ മാത്രമല്ലെന്നും നമ്മെ പഠിപ്പിച്ച അക്ഷര ലോകത്തെ ആ അപ്പൂപ്പന്‍  ജീവിതത്തെയും മരണത്തെയും  കുറിച്ച് ഇങ്ങിനെ ചോദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്: "ജീവിച്ചു, മരിച്ചു, ഒക്കെ ശരി, ചെയ്ത അദ്ഭുതമെന്ത്?"

അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഓര്‍മയ്ക്ക് മുന്‍പില്‍ നമിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്, നല്ല ബഡുക്കൂസുകളായി, ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ അദ്ഭുതങ്ങളും നന്മകളും തേടിയുള്ള നമ്മുടെ യാത്ര തുടരാം.

World Environment Day @ Mevarkal LPS

Think. Eat. Save. That is a rather smart theme of the World Environment Day (WED). It is celebrated on June 5. We are also celebrating the day and joining in the collective display of the environment spirit shown by millions of people across the globe. Long live our environment.

School re-opened

Mevarkal LPS re-opened for a new academic year on June 3. The day witnessed heavy downpour right from the morning. Why does it rain always in Kerala on every school-opening day? It is kind of nature's blessing for the students at the start of the new academic year.

We celebrated a welcome festival (called praveshanolsavam) to induct the new students. The school compound and building were decorated, sweets were distributed and welcome speeches were made. The first-standarders were eased into the beginning of a potentially big academic journey that could change their and their family members' lives.

We hope for an eventful and fulfilling academic year.

The campaign for Project School Van @ Mevarkal LPS starts

The school has been closed for vacation. We believe our students started enjoying their mid-summer vacation. For us, teachers and the school managing committee, there are a lot of things to be done. Of prime importance among the things is a fund-raising campaign for Project SchoolVan @ Mevarkal LPS.

Our aim is to collect around Rs. Five lakhs from those who are willing to donate some of their hard-earned money to the welfare of the school.

It was decided at the meeting conducted as part of the school anniversary celebrations on March 27 to visit the households in and around Mevarkal for contributions. Members of the school managing committee have started their fund collection walk, braving the scorching summer heat. We hope all people in Mevarkal will show their generosity.
